Life doesn’t get simpler than this. Watermelon juice with nothing in it except….watermelon! I just cut up a seedless watermelon, removed the rind, put the fruit in a blender and then strained the juice out. Its even easier if you have a juicer; you don’t have to do the straining separately.
I decided not to add anything to the juice because it tasted fresh, fantastic, super fabulous all by itself.
But here are some great additions to watermelon juice:
- Sugar, honey or any other sweetener
- A pinch of Indian black salt, which always pairs well with fruits
- Lemon or lime juice
- Lemon or lime zest
- Mint
- Basil
- Alcohol (highly recommended!) – rum, tequilla or cahaca (my favorite)
- A little club soda to make watermelon spritzer (thanks Aparna!)
You cant go wrong with mixing and matching any of the above.
I served this watermelon juice, chilled, in mini flower vases with a sprig of mint.
What will you add to watermelon juice?
Mind blowing pics. A beautiful red color! I never have had tried watermelon juice with alcohol. Your ingredients can make a nice cocktail!

Pics are so tempting. I’ll probably add some lemon juice, nice and refreshing.

Look at that color!! We do the honey, mint & of course all the 3 alcohols you mentioned:-) last weekend hubby mixed in some orange juice & pineapple with rum with the red.. it was some good sipping.

There is nothing like simplicity! I make watermelon juice all by itself too – most of the time don’t even see the need to add water since it has all the liquid I need! And if the watermelon is sweet enough – no sweeteners either
excellent and refreshing photos and drink sala

you make the simplest of recipes sound delicious, sala ! and who would have thought of sipping off a mini flower vase!!! i’ve tried watermelon juice with kaffir lime leaves (which play a key role in thai cooking) and it turned out good…the straining can be a pain though (i used a smoothie maker). my other favourite combos would be papaya with mint & ginger, apple with cinnamon and banana with oats

Great pics of watermelon juice. I just blogged about a watermelon martini here but I LOVE the idea of mixing this with basil, especially in a cocktail! http://www.sisboomblog.com/2009/08/summer-cocktail-series-watermelon.html

It is such a delicious fruit you wouldn’t need anything else and such a gorgeous colour too! I think If I were to add anything, I would add a sprinkle of ground ginger.

What a wonderful color. You know I own a juicer and have never juiced watermelon.
